History
The story goes back to the end of 2000, when I met my wife of 10 years. At the time I met her, she had
a transplanted kidney and both of hers were functioning, one at 13% and the other at 5%. Through her,
I was able to learn about the stories of several people with the same conditions and the situations that
people with kidney disease face daily. Some people were unable to receive dialysis treatment due to
financial issues, as they lacked health insurance or financial means. Several people and friends lost
their lives as a result.
When my ex-wife passed away, I decided to create a foundation to help people who lack the means
or financial resources for treatment or proper nutrition.
As time went by, the idea of creating the foundation continued to float in my head, and by chance, I
met JANINE, my now girlfriend and future wife, a nurse and wonderful human being dedicated to
saving lives. As soon as I told her about the idea of the Foundation, she didn't hesitate for a second to
support me and get to work organizing everything.
Thanks to JANINE and her tireless work and struggle to help people in need, the Blue Butterfly Kidney
Foundation opened its doors to everyone.
